Last Week Roger Berliner, County Council Member representing the B-CC area, spoke about infill development. 75% of all infill development in Montgomery County takes place in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area. Although neighborhoods need to change, it is important to recognize that infill development can drastically change the character of a neighborhood. He convened an advisory group of developers, builders, and community groups to develop a protocol which will allow for a more graceful transformation. Last week the group concluded its meetings and came to a consensus that there is a need for neighborhood outreach. Most builders want to accommodate to what the neighbors want. The group was unable to get consensus on house size.
